Happy 2014

Lots of fireworks here in Helsinki and we were there to enjoy the show.

We honored both Finnish and Greek customs that help us predict the future!

Χθες ο ουρανός του Ελσίνκι έλαμψε από τα πυροτεχνήματα κι εμείς είχαμε πρώτη θέση για τη παράσταση.

Με την αλλαγή του έτους τιμήσαμε Φινλανδικά και Ελληνικά έθιμα που μας βοήθησαν να προβλέψουμε το μέλλον!

Η βασιλόπιτα έδειξε ποιοι θα είναι οι τυχεροί του 2014, καθώς το φλουρί έτυχε σε δύο κομμάτια.

An alternative of the Finnish tin tradition was chosen. Instead of melting tin and cooling it in water we used wax. 

Υπάρχει ένα φινλανδικό έθιμο, όπου λιώνεις ένα κομμάτι μέταλο και το πετάς σε μία κατσαρόλα με κρύο νερό για να κρυώσει. Διαβάζοντας το σχήμα που παίρνει αφού κρυώσει βλέπεις τι θα τύχει μέσα στο χρόνο. Δείτε τις φωτογραφίες εδώ 

Εμείς διαλέξαμε να χρησιμοποιήσουμε κερί αντί για το μεταλάκι που πουλάνε στα μαγαζιά.

Christmas nails

Super easy nail diy for the holidays, using 2 shades of nail polish and scotch tape.

Choose a light color for your base and let it dry well. I chose a shiny beige for my base.

Once the first layer has dried use scotch tape to make the patterns you like.
Let the base dry very very well! Don't hurry or the scotch tape will pill it off.

I put small triangles for the base of my fingers and used a dark green nail polish for my top layer. Add a second layer of your dark nail polish to make the color stronger.

Paper snowflakes

Perfect diy to spend a Christmas morning with your children!

You will need white paper in square pieces. You can use colourful paper for more colour-block result.

Τέλεια χειροτεχνία που μπορείτε να κάνετε με τα παιδιά!

Θα χρειαστείτε λευκό χαρτί κομμένο σε τετράγωνα διαφορων μεγεθών. Μπορείτε να χρησιμοποιήσετε πολύχρωμα χαρτιά αμα θελετε μια παιχνιδιαρικη εκδοχη!

Fold the square diagonally to form a triangle. Fold it now in half and make a smaller triangle. Continue folding until you have a thin triangle.

Διπλώστε το τετράγωνο διαγωνίως ώστε να έχετε ένα τρίγωνο. Διπλώσε στη μέση για να σχηματίσετε ένα μικρότερο τρίγωνο. Συνεχίστε μέχρι να έχετε ένα λεπτό τρίγωνο.

Use your scissors to cut the level the edge (this will give a more round shape to the final snowflake). Cut out small pieces, either symmetrically or randomly, as you like.

Με ενα ψαλίδι κοψτε την προεξοχή (ετσι θα δωσετε ενα κυκλικο σχημα στο τελικο αποτελεσμα). Κοψτε διαφορες εγκοπες στο τριγωνο σας. Καντε τις ειτε συμμετρικα είτε τυχαία.

Unfold the paper and you have your first snowflake! In nature every snowflake has a unique shape. Make sure to follow this rule and have fun!

Ξεδιπλώστε το χαρτί κι έτοιμη η νιφάδα! Καθε νιφαδα έχει μοναδικό σχήμα, φροντίστε να ακολουθήσετε αυτό τον κανόνα κι εσεις.
